The Scripps Ranch Community Center is located at 11885 Cypress Canyon Road
in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego.   It's on the southeast corner of Scripps Poway Parkway and Cypress Canyon Road.

Along Interstate 15, you'll want to get off at exit 17 which is Scripps Poway Parkway/Mercy Road.   There's a lot of construction going on, so this exit is NOT well marked.   From I-15, head east on Scripps Poway Parkway 2 miles, or 5 stop lights (this is Cypress Canyon).   Take a right on Cypress Canyon Road - the Community Center is on your left, and the entrance to parking is on the left.

This Community Center was originally owned by Kaufman and Broad, used to sell homes down at I-15.   They donated it to the City of San Diego, who along with the communities of Scripps Ranch moved it to its current location on City property.   San Diego was using this building to work passports and pay water bills, but budget constraints required the staff to be cut back in 2008.   (Even today, it is not unusual to have our card game interupted by someone wanting to pay a water bill.   The reason?  San Diego still has the Community Center listed as a place to pay your water bill, even though the City stopped all City Services bere in February 2008.   Seriously, it's listed right on the back of the water bill.)

Scripps Ranch residents still use this building, for things like Homeowners Association meetings, Neighborhood Watch groups, Little League meetings, etc.    Senior Citizens use it for all kinds of activities and Carl DeMaio, our City Councilman, meets here with Scripps Ranch residents on Fridays.

Your card fees go towards keeping this building open for these and all San Diego residents.   (Of course, bridge supplies and sanction fees come out of that, too!)   In 2009, your card fees wound up paying for 44% of the entire operating costs of the Community Center  -  for the entire year -  and in 2010, your card fees paid for 65% of those costs!   By playing here you are supporting both the Community Center and the ACBL's charities.
